About ChineseMemes
ChineseMemes explains Chinese internet memes in English. It exists because the literal translation is almost never the joke — and because English-language explainers for panda head, Nailong or 吃瓜 tend to be scattered, shallow or confident about origins nobody can actually verify.
Every entry here is written fresh: characters, pinyin, a literal translation, the meaning in use, and a “when to send it” note with the tone traps flagged. Where an origin is genuinely murky — common in sticker culture — the page says so instead of inventing a tidy story.
Copyright stance: this site publishes explanations, not meme images. Characters, artwork and memes belong to their creators; nothing here is presented as a downloadable asset pack.
ChineseMemes is built by Jimmy | ORBITFRAME and is part of a small family of meme tools — see the footer for the full set.
